Q: Can each tenant in a household receive vouchers?
A: No, there are four vouchers per property, per year.
Q: Do they expire in September like the other vouchers?
A: No, they are valid for one year from the date of download. This date is noted on the vouchers. New vouchers will be available when the previous vouchers expire, 12 months from when they were created.
Q: How long is my waiting period?
A: If you cannot see a waiting period in the web app, please contact Mornington Peninsula Shire on 1300 850 600
Q: If a new tenant moves in, can they access waste vouchers even if it’s within one year of the last tenant?
A: No, as the vouchers are issued per property a new tenant will need to wait until the expiry date of the vouchers already issued, to access new vouchers.
Q: I’m a private renter, is it different for me?
A: Private renters can use the same system, there is a provision for private renters to provide landlord details. If you are in a property managed by a private landlord and do not have a current formal rental agreement, we are unable to approve vouchers.
Q: How much waste can be disposed of with the vouchers at the Shire’s Resource Recovery Centres?
A: One voucher can be used for up to 1m³ green waste OR 0.5m³ hard waste. Please be aware that you may use more than one voucher per trip or visit.
Q: Can they be used for booked hard waste collection?
A: Yes, vouchers can be used to book a hard waste collection from your nature strip. Please note that a voucher can only be redeemed for 0.5m³ green waste in a hard waste collection (or 0.5m³ of hard waste). This is different from using them at the Resource Recovery Centres. An application for tenant waste vouchers can take time to process and so please DO NOT book a hard waste collection until you have received your vouchers. Volume restrictions apply to hard waste collections. Items that are free to dispose of at our Resource Recovery Centres are NOT free through the booked hard waste service.
Q: Can you extend the expiry date of my vouchers?
A: We cannot extend the expiry date of vouchers.
Q: I am experiencing issues accessing the Tenant Waste Vouchers via the emailed link, they've been approved already. What can I do?
A: Are there vouchers available in the Resident Services Portal? If it says “vouchers are available in XX days”, you will need to wait until the vouchers are available. If there are other issues, please call Mornington Peninsula Shire on 1300 850 600
