Project Scope
Canadian Bay and Half Moon Bay are among the most popular coastal destinations in the region, experiencing consistently high levels of visitation throughout the year, with a notable surge during the peak summer season. However, the existing infrastructure at both locations was significantly aged, showing signs of disrepair and no longer meeting the needs of the community or visitors.
This renewal project will deliver upgraded facilities that will enhance the overall visitor experience, improve public safety, and ensure equitable access for all users. Upgraded facilities and infrastructure include:

Project Timeline
The project will be delivered in staged phases so that sections of the carpark always remain open for use by both the public and the Canadian Bay Club members.
Note: Project timelines are subject to weather and material availability
Stage 1
Construction works in the Eastern (Ballar Creek) area of the carpark commenced on 30 March and is progressing well with completion expected by the end of June 2026.
Stage 2
Construction works in the Western (Canadian Bay Club) area of the carpark is programmed to commence in late June, with a programmed completion scheduled for the end of August/early September.
Stage 3
Construction works in the Southern (Entry & small carpark) area of the carpark is programmed to commence July 2026, with a programmed completion date of September 2026.
Beach Access
Canadian Bay beach access will generally be accessible for the majority of the construction period.
Half Moon Bay will be inaccessible while construction works are completed in the Western (Canadian Bay Club) area of the car park. Approximately 25 May to 31 July 2026.
Removal of vegetation and Monterey Pine Trees
In preparation for stage 2 of the carpark renewal works, areas of vegetation have been removed including 2 of the Monterey Pines. Removal of the 2 smaller Monterey Pines was required to accommodate the new carpark design and was supported by Council following an independent arborist's assessment of the trees who deemed them to be in poor health and showing large deadwood and previous branch failures.
The larger Monterey Pine tree numbered 10 has been retained.
Upon completion of construction works replanting is planned for the area with a selection of native species including.

- Drooping Sheoak
- Ti-Tree
- Moonah
- White Sallee
- Peppermint Gum
- Tuart Gum
