Councillor Max Patton was elected to the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council to represent the Benbenjie Ward in 2024.

He is motivated to bring community voices into Council, sustain and improve Council’s fiscal robustness, getting our fair share from State and Federal Governments to ease ratepayer burden, preserve and improve our coastlines, improve the standard of living for all from childcare to aged care, support community clubs and protect the green wedge from inappropriate development.

Max has a background in Coastal Management supported by foundational tertiary study in Environmental Science/Management.  As a result of managing Foreshores across the Peninsula, His career has involved extensive experience in the administration of complex Crown Land assets, commercial camping operations and environmental areas.

He also has extensive community service and involvement. From a lifetime of school attendance and playing football and cricket on the Peninsula – to volunteering at the Briars, starting a Beach Patrol, Wildlife Rescue, Rye Coastal Advisory Group (MPSC), Climate Change Community Group (MPSC), and others.

He is the Appointed Representative for Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve Foundation, Australian Coastal Councils and Sub-Delegate for Arts and Culture Advisory Panel, Climate Emergency Community Reference Group, Southeast Council’s Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA).

He lives in Waterfall Gully, and spends his free time gravel riding, kitesurfing, and attending live music and sporting events.
